August 14, 2024 – The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) announces that its Chief Executive Officer, Beth McMahon MES, will step down from the position, effective September 15, 2024.
After eight years with CIP, Beth’s leadership is credited with significantly increasing the Institute’s capacity, membership, and influence on strategic policy and program areas, including climate change, housing, and reconciliation.
McMahon shared her gratitude for the opportunity to lead CIP, “It has been an honour and a privilege to lead the Canadian Institute of Planners since 2016. I am immensely proud of the accomplishments we have achieved together and grateful for the enthusiastic support of our members, Board, staff, and partners across the planning ecosystem. I am confident that CIP is well-positioned for continued success, with a very capable staff team and its strong Strategic Plan, and I look forward to seeing the great work that will continue under new leadership.”
The Board of Directors and the entire CIP team extend their deepest appreciation and congratulations to Beth for her transformative achievements and wish her continued success in the next exciting phase of her career as President & CEO of the Hotel Association of Canada.
The Board of Directors will engage in a comprehensive search for a new CEO and is committed to ensuring a smooth transition to maintain the Institute’s momentum.
