World Town Planning Day 2023: LEARN GLOBALLY, APPLY LOCALLY
Planners, urban designers and place-makers attended the 74th World Town Planning Day 2023 virtual conference, hosted by the APA, CIP, and APA’s International Division on November 8, 2023.
The meeting discussed the need for planning education to address global challenges, with Olivier highlighting the complex interrelationships between different spatial scales and the importance of understanding universal planning principles. Kirsty from the University of Dundee emphasized the training of future planners to address global issues and the role of students in making a difference in their local communities. Giulio reflected on his experience teaching international planning and the diversity of the program’s student cohort. The discussion also focused on the need to introduce planning studies to high school students and educate the public about planning policies.
