Help build the future of the planning profession this GivingTuesday by donating to CIP-PSTF – the Canadian planning profession’s national charity. The fund provides scholarships and bursaries to students in accredited planning programs across Canada and works to help support the leaders of tomorrow.
November 29 is GivingTuesday
As a component of CIP’s new strategic priority of Career Support for Life, CIP is working hard to support students. This includes the recent online student symposium Planning Together, which took place on World Town Planning Day, and by extending free membership to all Canadian post-secondary students. CIP remains committed to providing students with opportunities to grow and thrive as the next generation of planning professionals.
CIP-PSTF scholarships and bursaries also focus on key priority areas for CIP including:
- The Climate Change Action Scholarship: Awarded to a student, or a small team of students, for a research project which will enable communities to adapt to, and mitigate the impacts of, climate change. The project must present innovative solutions that professional planners could employ to address the challenges posed by climate change.
- SOAR Professional Services Indigenous Student Bursary: Awarded to an Indigenous student working towards a planning degree whose research background is reflective of their Indigenous traditions and culture and their commitment to making meaningful change in Indigenous Communities.
CIP is proud to support the CIP-PSTF and encourages members to consider giving generously to this important cause. The sustainability of the program is dependent on individual donations, so please consider a one-time or monthly donation to the program. Donations are tax-deductible and donors can direct their contributions to the publicly funded scholarships and bursaries of their choosing.
But you don’t need to wait for Giving Tuesday to support the CIP-PSTF. Help build the future for planning in Canada now by donating today!

About the CIP-PSTF
The CIP/ICU Planning Student Trust Fund (CIP-PSTF) is the Canadian planning profession’s national charity,
providing a scholarship and bursary program to students in accredited planning programs in Canada.
The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) created CIP-PSTF in 1989 to contribute to the advancement of professional planning. After incorporating as a separate entity under the Canada Corporations Act, the fund received charitable status in 1990. Since then, 143 scholarships and bursaries have been awarded, totalling $455,000 in financial support to worthy students.
