The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and its members honour and mourn the memory of the 215 Indigenous children who died at the Kamloops Residential School, and all survivors and families who were subjected to Canada’s reprehensible residential school system. CIP recognizes the heartbreaking devastation, trauma, and injustice that continues to be inflicted upon First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people on their traditional lands. Our profession supports the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and is committed to a long-term relationship-building, learning, and healing process.
