In recognition and celebration of the accomplishments of CIP’s College of Fellows, Fellows Week 2024 highlights the positive impacts of the College on the planning profession.
Supporting the Next Generation of Professional Planners
Members of the College work collaboratively to support the planning profession. Through the CIP-PSTF College of Fellows Undergraduate Bursary, and the Indspire College of Fellows Indigenous Planning Student Award, Fellows actively support the next generation of planning professionals.
Indigenous Planning Student Award
CIP Fellows want to contribute to broadening Canadian planning practice to better include Indigenous professional voices. Generously supported by Urban Systems and administered by Indspire, the College of Fellows Indigenous Planning Student Award is an annual award of $5,000 which supports an Indigenous student (First Nation, Inuit or Metis) in their post-secondary studies at an accredited Canadian planning program, in full-time or part-time studies. Applications are now open! Apply by February 1, 2024.
CIP-PSTF Undergraduate Bursary
This financial support provides me with relief at a critical time of my studies, as well as propels my studies and work in sustainable and innovative urban design to continue making a profound impact on future generations.
Ricardo Dabydeen (University of Waterloo), 2023 Recipient of the College of Fellows Undergraduate Bursary
Through the CIP/ICU Planning Student Trust Fund (CIP-PSTF), CIP’s partner charity, the College of Fellows is supporting undergraduate students in accredited planning programs. The College of Fellows Undergraduate Bursary is awarded for the best submission that demonstrates the applicant’s academic achievement, as well as their leadership and commitment to community and their chosen profession and professional association. The next application cycle for CIP-PSTF bursaries will open in Fall 2024.
Contributions to Plan Canada Magazine
Plan Canada is Canada’s national planning magazine, published quarterly by CIP. The magazine is our top-rated member service, valued for its high-quality, timely, relevant, and engaging planning-related content. Fellows make a significant contribution to Plan Canada magazine through the ‘Fellows Corner’, a regular column providing diverse perspectives on the themes presented in each issue. In celebration of Fellows Week, we are pleased to make Fellows Corner from our Spring 2023 issue on “Housing Choice and Affordability” open to the public!
About the College of Fellows
Fellowship in the Canadian Institute of Planners is the highest honour the Institute can bestow upon a planner. This distinction recognizes excellence, identifies prominent role models, promotes advances in planning practice and draws leaders to the forefront of planning in Canada. Thank you to all of our Fellows for your dedication and commitment to the profession!
