OTTAWA, Ontario – July 8, 2020 – The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) has honoured 13 projects, from across Canada, with a 2020 Award for Planning Excellence. The annual awards, which recognize innovation, impact on the profession, overall presentation, and implementation potential, are the highest level of recognition the Institute bestows on professional planning projects.

“On behalf of the Canadian planning community, I would like to congratulate these individuals and organizations,” said Eleanor Mohammed RPP, MCIP, President of the Canadian Institute of Planners. “These projects embody the finest examples of planning and are representative of the innovative work being done by Canadian planning professionals in Canada and worldwide.”

In 2020, 52 national and international projects were received across ten categories, resulting in a total of 13 awards. Submissions were rigorously evaluated over three months by a jury comprised of planning professionals from across the country.

CIP formally recognized the recipients of the 2020 Awards for Planning Excellence virtually in a video announcement, July 8.
