Becoming a Member
For a number of years, CIP has been engaged in a Planning for the Future Project in cooperation with our provincial Affiliates. This project involved a major review of membership criteria, requirements and processes. A new membership process is now in place and applications for Candidate membership are being processed by the Professional Standards Board (PSB).
Effective September 1, 2012, all applications for Candidate membership are being directed to the Professional Standards Board for the Planning Profession in Canada (PSB). The PSB is also responsible for assisting those interested in acquiring the Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation by administering the new certification processes.
At this time I would like to direct you to the PSB website, http://www.psb-planningcanada.ca where you can review the applicable information pertaining to membership including the required application forms. If you have any questions regarding your eligibility to apply for Candidate membership at this time, they should be directed to Sabita at the PSB.
Student Applicants should contact their Provincial Affiliate directly to make application.
Candidate/Provsional Members Accepted on or before August 31, 2012
Existing Candidate/Provisional members who were accepted on or before August 31, 2012 will proceed through to Full Member status through the process that was in place when their application for Candidate/Provisional membership was originally accepted. This means logging the appropriate amount of experience by submitting the traditional logbook for validation, successfully completing the written examination (for those who do not hold a recognized planning degree) and successfully sitting the oral examination.
Please contact your local Affiliate for information regarding your logbook submissions.
