Old Montreal has a long history behind it and it has been revitalized over the years to open it to the world through its access to the waterfront. It has several century-old buildings dating back to the origin of the colony. Everyone is welcome to visit and spend beautiful days in this magnificent old part of town!

It has a beautiful waterfront access all along the way. It is open to public from all sides and is easily accessible from downtown Montreal. There are activities all year long. It is packed with people on hot summer days and it is the gathering of thousand others during the cold winter days. Old buildings have been restored and lit up at night, which make the waterfront very attractive. Green spaces have been protected or expanded, it is well maintained, and people care to keep the area clean. Archeological sites have been discovered all over Old Montreal and have been restored for public viewing and visiting.

The provincial Government, the City of Montreal, the commercial owners and the residents all took part in the revitalizing of Old Montreal to make it the most beautiful public space in the region.

In the 70s, Old Montreal was dark, and nobody would walk in the streets at night. Since then, several government investments have contributed to open the area to people, and make the waterfront a beautiful place to live.
