    Skating at the Old Port

Old Port of Montreal

Montreal, QC

Public Space

In the summer, this is a gathering and entertainment centre of Montreal. On the water of the St. Lawrence, there are piers with the Montreal Science Centre, a promenade stretching the length of the port adjacent to the old city that is a tourist destination.

It is well used in the summer by walkers, runners, cyclists, rollerbladers, and the horse carriages. In the winter, there is an ice rink for public skating. Fireworks and decorations are part of every holiday.

This space combines public, commercial, and municipal elements in a truly integrated way. It is very accessible for everyone and meets all the needs for food and entertainment. Port Authority and City of Montreal are great supporters of this project.

This is the setting for many city exhibitions and gatherings for holiday celebrations. All planning was made with the walking public in mind.
