CIP/ICU Planning Student Trust Fund



 

The Canadian Institute of Planners' Planning Student Trust Fund (CIP-PSTF) contributes to the advancement of community planning by providing scholarships to students studying in the field. The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) created the CIP-PSTF in 1989. After incorporating as a separate entity under the Canada Corporations Act, the fund received charitable status in 1990.
 
The CIP-PSTF Board of Directors is comprised of planners from across Canada. These Directors promote, manage, and govern the administration of the fund.

How is the CIP-PSTF funded?
 
The sustainability of the scholarship program is dependent on corporate sponsorships and individual donations. Contributions are tax deductible and can be dedicated by the donor to either the general fund or specific scholarships.
 

  • 100% of all corporate and individual donations go directly to the fund and will not be used towards administration expenses.
  • Income tax receipts will be issued for any donations over $20.00.
  • CIP annually donates $2.00 from each full membership fee that it collects.
  • CIP’s contribution covers all CIP-PSTF administration expenses.

 
Where do the funds go?
 
The CIP-PSTF currently supports students with five different scholarships, awarding over $22,000.00 annually. A new program, The David Palubeski Bursary, will be launched in 2018.

New: In 2018, scholarship recipients will be eligible for the Ages Foundation Travel Awards, enabling them to attend CIP’s national conference in Winnipeg. Thanks to this generous support, students will have the opportunity to not only receive their honours in person, but to also connect with other students, professionals, and academics, and to share their experiences back home.
